Martha story told by her family: A healthy, never been in the hospital 73yr old, who could out work people half her age passed away from HLH just within a week of start of symptoms. It started with fever and no other symptoms on Sunday. Saw Provider on Monday with negative flu, Covid, and strep. Labs were slightly decreased, but thought it might be viral waiting on tick panels to come back. Continued with weakness, and fever and was taken to the ED the transferred to St Thomas in Nashville. She had dysphasia, seizures, aspirated and then was placed on ventilator, multiple pressers for blood pressure, antibiotics, and final CRRT. She ended up with multiple organ failure and passed away on Monday. We had family pictures the Sunday when her fever started! This one of the pictures from that day!
